MAKING LIQUEURS WITH ESSENCES

Liqueur essences can be used to produce high quality liqueurs and cordials. Essences are particularly useful for liqueurs that are
difficult to make, like herbal liqueurs, hazelnut, almond and coconut liqueurs, and also some difficult fruit liqueurs (like banana).
Several manufacturers are producing liqueur essences. The Swedish company Gert Strand AB is producing the world's larges selection
of liqueur essences. The quality of their Prestige essences is described as "far superior to any other brand that we have tested"
(Brewhaus.com). The Prestige essences do not contain any artificial flavors or aromas.

Absinth, is
a wormwood-flavoured apertif woven into many legends, and was
the favorite drink of the artistic set in Paris in the 1800s.

Amaretto
is a splendid almond liqueur. Drink "on
the rocks" or in mixed drinks.
Instructions: Pour
the contents of this bottle and 275 grams (10 oz) of granulated
sugar into a 75 cl (US 25 fl oz) bottle. Fill 3/4 full with
vodka and shake until the sugar has dissolved. Top up the bottle

Blue
Curacao is a citrus liqueur made from the husks of
the Curacao fruit. Drink suggestion: "Blue Devil" - 2
parts Gin, 1 part lime juice and 1 part Blue Curacao.

Cacao is a creamy chocolate liqueur. Drink neat or mixed in

Liqueur is a traditional Italian hazelnut drink. Enjoy as a
liqueur or mixed in drinks. Very good as Hot Shot: Pour 2 cl (US
0.5 fl oz) Hazelnut Liqueur in a shot glass. Fill up with hot
coffee and top with whipped cream.

Irish
Cream is an Irish Whiskey liqueur based on cream and
chocolate.
Instructions:Pour

sugar and 20 cl (US 6.5 fl oz) whipping cream into a 75 cl (US 25 fl oz)
bottle. Fill 3/4 full with vodka and shake until the sugar has

an exciting herb liqueur with a distinct vanilla flavour. Try a
"Hot Shot": Pour 2 cl (US 0.6 fl oz) of mixed Italiano
Liqueur in a 6 cl shot glass, fill up with coffee and top off
with whipped cream.
